Position: Early Childhood Program Coordinator
Reports to: Library Director
The Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library, located in the Borough of Waynesboro in South Central Pennsylvania, is seeking an energetic, knowledgeable applicant for the position of Early Childhood Program Coordinator. The library serves a diverse population in the Waynesboro Area School District and nearby areas (service area population: 33,382). It is a federated member of the Franklin County Library System.
Position Summary: The Early Childhood Program Coordinator is responsible for creating a stimulating, safe, and nurturing environment where children ages 0–5 can develop cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills. The role involves designing and implementing developmentally appropriate storytime programs and facilitating play-based learning.
Job Requirements:
Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, Diploma, or Degree preferred.
Experience in a childcare, daycare, or preschool setting is preferred. Valid background checks (child abuse register, criminal record) are required.
Exceptional communication skills, patience, creativity, and the ability to work collaboratively with library staff.
Ability to engage with parents and caregivers.
Ability to actively engage with children, including lifting children, kneeling, crouching, and sitting on the floor.
FBI and PA Criminal Background Checks and PA Child Abuse History Clearance
Responsibilities and Duties:
Plan and execute engaging, age-appropriate early education programs focusing on literacy, numeracy, social skills, and creative expression.
Job Hours: Hourly part-time 19-25 hours per week, as well as occasional evening and/or weekend hours.
