Our 2012 Children's Programs include:
Family Place
Family Place Libraries™ is a network of children's librarians nationwide who believe that literacy begins at birth, and that libraries can help build healthy communities by nourishing healthy families. The Family Place Libraries network currently includes more than 300 sites in 23 states and continues to grow.
This year our Family Place program will take place beginning Friday April 20 at 10:00 A.M. For five weeks on Friday mornings we will have Family Place programing.This five week program involves toddlers and their parents and caregivers; features local professionals who serve as resources for parents; emphasizes the role of parents as the first teachers of their children; facilitates early intervention; and teaches strategies for healthy child development and early literacy. Lap Time
One session - Friday Morning at 10:00 A.M.
If your baby was born to read then they will live Lap Time for children birth to 2 years old. This story time programs allows your baby to enjoy some easy picture books to promote early literacy followed by snack time and a coloring page.
Music and Movement
Two sessions:
Tuesday 10:00 A.M. (Toddler)
Tuesday 10:45 A.M. ( Preschool)
If you love to sing, dance and play games then this program is for you. Music and Movement allows your child to develop his or her gross motor skills in a safe and fun environment.
Preschool Story Time
Two sessions:
Wednesday 10 A.M.
Thursday 1:00 P.M.
This story time programs is designed with your preschooler in mind. Each week we read stories, have a snack and enjoy a craft that fits in with our weekly theme.
Book Buddies
Starting Soon!
Do you have a young child who enjoys being read to? Or an older child who is reluctant to read? If so then Book Buddies is a great program for you. This program pairs your child up with a trained teen reader who can either read a book to your child or help you child read out loud. Book Buddies is designed to instill a love of books in you younger child or build confidence in you reluctant reader. *Please see Miss Lori at the youth service desk to sign up or call the library @ 717-762-3335.
Craft Club
8-12 years old
One session - Fourth Saturday of every month
"A creative person looks at something useless and sees its possibilities." This brand new club is looking for its very first members.
